The deceased has been identified as P Radha Gayatri, a resident of Kidwai Nagar East in Delhi. According to police officials, Gayatri had arrived at Kiana Homestay Tipridhar late on Sunday night along with her husband, Soumya Sricharan, who is also employed in the information technology sector and works in Pune.
Police said they received information on Monday morning regarding an unresponsive woman at the homestay. An ambulance was immediately dispatched to the location, where a pharmacist attached to the ambulance service examined the woman and declared her dead.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the couple had travelled from Delhi to Rishikesh on June 13 before checking into a room named “Bliss” at the homestay at approximately 11:30 p.m. on June 14.
During questioning, Sricharan told investigators that he and his wife had consumed alcohol during the night and went to sleep at around 3:30 a.m. He claimed that when he woke up the following morning, he found Gayatri unresponsive, lying in a puddle of urine, with blood reportedly oozing from her nose.
Police further disclosed that the couple had married on November 8, 2025, and both were originally from Visakhapatnam.
In an official statement, police said the body of the deceased was discovered on the floor without clothes. Bloodstains were also found on the bedsheet inside the room. Investigators recovered two empty liquor bottles and food items from the scene as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Following the discovery, the body was sent to Coronation Hospital in Dehradun for a post-mortem examination. Authorities have requested that the autopsy be conducted by a panel of doctors and recorded under camera supervision to ensure transparency in the investigation.
Circle Officer Manoj Aswal stated that Gayatri’s parents had been informed about the death and were expected to arrive from Visakhapatnam late on Tuesday.
“We have sent the body for a post-mortem examination. Things will become clear only after the post-mortem report is received,” Aswal said.
The death has raised several unanswered questions, and investigators are awaiting the findings of the post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the young professional’s death. The case remains under investigation as police continue to examine all available evidence recovered from the homestay.
